MID-CONTINENT TOWER

”TULSA’S MOST RECOGNIZABLE LANDMARK”

There is no other structure in the world quite like Tulsa’s Mid-Continent Tower. This marvel of modern engineering stands as a memorial to Tulsa’s oil boom of the 1980s. What appears to be one tower actually consists of two entirely separate buildings—the original 15-story Neo-Gothic Cosden Building built in 1918 and a matching 36 story addition raised in 1984.

ARRIVAL & LOBBY

The Mid-Continent Tower’s elegant main lobby and entry colonnade is an homage to thetimeless and classic Neo-Gothic designs established by Architect Henry Hoit in the Cosden Building’s 1918 lobby. The only way to faithfully match the Cosden’s original Calcutta Vagli Rosato marble was to use the original source. Modern architects traveled to Italy to personally select cuts that most closely matched the veining patterns that were popular during Cosden’s era. The interior wall panels required three different types of marble imported from Italy. Rosato covers the walls and columns; Roman Travertine graces the restroom walls while accents and trim are Verde Antique. The lobby floors of both buildings are two colors from Tennessee—Craig Rose and Rose Gray. Hand-blown opal flash and opaque flash antique glass imported from Europe was used to compose the exquisite collection of stained glass art used extensively throughout the lobby and executive suites.
